Hey guys

To get my 69 back on the road this year a few things needed to be done including, new budget engine, remount shifter, of course clean the green off the outside (it's been outdoors most it's life), and recently rebuilt the rearend and upgraded the suspension.

Here are a few pics for you guys.

The front end doesn't match because it was hit years ago and placed a temp used nose on it untill I could fix it right but life got in the way and money has been scarse.

I finally put the cover on the shifter and moved it forward some

Can't roll around on oxidized wheels, Mothers power ball works great

and out with the diff to replace the 488's with 373's. I know...why did he ever put 488's in a street car? Well it was really fun with my low compression 396 and 4 spd

After scraping the thick undercoating off by hand and some degreaser I hitting the local hi pressure car wash then housing was ready for sandblasting.

I meant to get more pics of the diff half blasted but was at my cuz Brian Tomer's and I was pressed for time before it was his bed time (Boeing worker ya know), plus it was a long job.

Disassembly and cleaning the inside of the housing.

See anything funny with the old gears at right?
Someone put 4 series gears on a 3 series carrier via a spacer.
The 488's are in good shape if anyone can use them.

Stock suspension, broke a shock on disassembly to

Stock rubber and even an old on car oval hole repair

Nice work here!!!!

Before all the adjustable uppers...people would elongate the slots to get the right angle, then weld in the washers... could be this or a repair you saw

I really like my UMI lowers Jason..they are nice pieces and not oo hard to install. I am running the boxed ones as they came with the stock mounting spots for the sway bar. I had a little issue with my drivers side adjustable upper needing to be clearanced, some people have not had to do it, I wasn't that lucky. My uppers where from Spohn though

HELL YEAH! first test drive with rebuilt 373 12 bolt, all new UMI rear
suspension, springs all 4 corners and put my front sway bar back on. I
left the house at 6:30 and got back at 9:30. lol picked up Jim, did some burnouts,
and went over to see Darrel and did a bunch of bench racing and lookin at parts.

The car rode great and has TONS of Power. Love the gear ratio.

Cant wait to do some thrashing at the strip.

Well I was thinking I would see what she runs before I divoldge my budget build specs.
If she runs good, then I praise my build, if not I can down play my cheapness. biggrin

But then again it's nothing special...I may have a max of $1,300 into it including oil and misc
so as long as I get mid 12's I'll be happy but tuning is the fun part I think.

-Stock bore 454, deglaze honed at home.
-New .340" dome hyper slugs ~ 10:1 orso, pin fit by Doc on thumb rods with stock bolts
-Engle hyd cam: 244/260 @ .050", .560/.570 lift, stainless roller rockers
-781's stock valves and ports with some decent springs
-RPM intake and 3310 for now (my 750 DP base plate has a broken ear, oops) need help there (Chad said he has a Base Plate he'd sell me cheap, but it's been a while now)
-TH 350, 10" 3500 TCI
-New 373's I'm so happy with!!
-BFG 295/65R15 DR

Sooo what do ya think George?
This winter I should be working on a upgrading to another set of 781's with big valves and some bowl work. It will be interesting to see the difference next year.

Stay tuned for updates, Same Bat Time Same Bat Channel

Took her for another spin today (more break-in miles) and even hit the freeway returning home from Tomer's house. I was easily keeping up to the SUV's around me at 9pm running 27-2800 RPM's, soooo much better than 4000 with 488's.

Having fun one burnout at a time.

Thanks Jim, steel wheel will work just fine for my DR's.

Jason,
That is a lot more motor than 454v1 and more duration at .05 than my new engine!
Engle hyd cam: 244/260 @ .050", .560/.570 lift, stainless roller rockers
huge spread between the intake and ext...are thos figures correct?
Sounds like a nice combo! Bet it has a mean idle!

Yeah George the numbers are correct (perfect for some squeeze don't ya think?!) and it does have quite a mean idle, with flowmasters dumped at the rearend for a kicker. I may end up going quieter like Kevin did when I hear his.

I just hope it goes as good at the track as it sounds. It feels pretty good on the street so far.

time will tell, sure is fun to drive now....

On this episode:

Calibrating my speedometer and trying out my 295/65-15 DR's on some steel wheels for the track.

Anyone near Marysville area have a tire changer?
Spent all my $$ on recent projects and need a little help.

I will post pics of the new stance soon.

I put my stock 15/16 front sway bar back on and would like to know where to get an affordable rear sway bar to use with my new UMI stuff?

Thanks for lookin in and any help will be appreciated.

Jason
