I gutted the factory front clip & cleaned it up. I mounted the TRZ rack and stalled after that for a lack of bolts for the front suspension.

Starting the battery power components, and battery disconnect. Waiting for the cable clamp. I hate body work dust.....

Finally put a new battery in it after realizing now both 9 and 10 year old blue top Optimas are bad...and of course a stock style flooded NAPA battery is taller than the Optima that came out.

Cut the rounded ends of the ring terminal end leads straight and paired them on the top post bolts(I had 2 + and 2 - leads)   Installed longer pieces of allthread and made a new flat only(no angle iron welded to it) top plate hold down.  I'll try to start it later, left it on the Battery Tender for now.

Installed a pair of Viking DAs in the front.  They were a bitch, had to drop the front coils to get them in.

The inner parts are getting sprayed outside since they will have panels covering them, the outers are sprayed for base coat, and sanded for the paint booth.

Started porting my 781 heads today. Roughed in all ports on one head and started cleaning up exhausts. Just trying to smooth out all the ridges and casting imperfections. Then clean chambers a little after unshrouding valves. Valves are currently cut a little undersize and once I’m done they’ll be cut to 2.19 and 1.88 and new guides, which I’ll have to clean up a little.

I remember doing that to my heads. I had 8 hours straight on one then the other was two sittings of 4 hours each. It was brutal.

Just a couple of cent's worth.

Most of your flow/power gains are in the chambers and bowel area.

Unshroud and smooth the chambers first, before doing the ports. ( toss in a set of the old 2.06/1.72's in to trash )

Then have the guide work done and the seats cut to 2.19/1.88.

If you do the bowel work to the 2.06/1.72 seat size, the throat area will be to small and screws up the short turn radius for the 2.19/1.88's somewhat defeating all your earlier polishing work, by having to make them bigger and re-curve the short turn radius.

If you have the extra time, it's time well spend being diligent with the grinding and polishing.

I have around 40-45 hrs. of grinding on this set.

Valves are rough cut bigger already, I think 2.15/1.85, that way if I nick a seat its Ok because they’ll be a little bigger anyway. That way I could work the bowl and short turn with a mostly correct size.
