You no longer have the stock dash, huh? I used the temp idiot light on mine.

I’ve never had the stock dash insert. I did buy an empty shell insert years ago and someday will make my own setup with it. I don’t like the aluminum that’s in there now.

Eric has that dakota VFX insert in his 66, looks awesome! way better than the sweep dash IMO. Pricey though!

The stock sweep dash is only thing i don't love about the 66/67.

I agree, can’t stand sweep dashes. I’m not in love with anything in the aftermarket either. Just personal preference, but I don’t digital and my eyes are very sensitive to light while driving at night. I’ll end up doing something custom while keeping the factory metal surround. Conan’s makes a nice piece, but it’s plastic and overpriced. Maybe a project for next year.

FWIW, the dakota digital ones are not "digital" like the cheesy LCD ones from 20 years ago... but analog that are electronically driven. Pretty slick really

(ok i guess they do have a LCD screen in the middle for odometer and stuff, realized after going and snagging a pic)

I wonder if they have plain background options? The carbon fiber wouldn’t match anything for me, it just looks very modern.

I wish they had that when I was doing dash gauges in 2009...I spent about 2x what they want for that panel in gauges, SS panels, plug and play adapter wiring harness and some shrink tube connectors.

Finished up most of the little things the last couple weeks. When Ben is done with the rear seat back I can finish the interior. Still wanting to make some simple courtesy lights under the dash for the front footwells, but that's a small thing, really liking the addition of the console, all these years I've only had the bottom shell that was in the trunk when I got it. it starts right up and idles nice now, with less than an hours run time it seems to be learning quickly. I hope to get exhaust on it at the end of the month, new front tires shortly after, and be driving it by the end of April or early May. I bought a Denali three piece engine cover this week and was disappointed when it didn't clear the hood. I hate to cut it up, but will try and make it work before giving up.

I really wish I had known more about the Dakota dash when I did mine. I would have stayed with the sweep dash and done the Dakota, or just an insert with aftermarket gauges.

Spent WAYYYY too much on the dash and all new gauges.

It’s just not for me. It’s well made and looks great, but I can’t get over the look of it being so modern appearing when the rest of the car looks stock. I just don’t see it “fitting” in. I have no idea which direction to go either though.

I am excited, just hope it lives up to my expectations. I ended up going through the whole car and with exception to the body, it’s mostly all new. The LQ4/4L80 is a 36K mile take out, so it should have plenty of life left. I just hope it drives and cruises down the road smooth reliably. Will take it to the exhaust shop tomorrow morning by trailer, no insurance yet, and get new front tires one size taller before putting some miles on it. Tomorrow will be an exciting day, can’t wait to hear it. Hoping for a quiet ride inside but noticeable outside. Planning on driving it a lot this summer.
