Great, now you don’t have a single running classic... wink  so what exactly were you doing at Berg’s?  I recognize that bad 55 Chevy. We need more details.

Mike went off the deep end!  He traded all the BBCs for the small block out of the welfare Novano

Which motor was that failed head gasket from?

The engine out of the car, everything else looked great though and it’s some decent parts in it. Was a big relief.

Lol Mark!
The engine in the car was way overdue to be freshened, like 10 years overdue! On my last pass it was popping bad and fell on its face about the 1/8 mile. I ran it back to the trailer, but couldn’t get it restarted to pull inside the trailer. I waited till now to pull it and take it and all the stuff I have been collecting to Darryl’s place to evaluate. I should be bringing back my (Brian’s old) 489 and a spare 468 I got from Darryl several years ago in a couple weeks. Darryl is going to do some work for me to get the 454 back together with maybe a few little improvements.
I may trade the 468 to Scotty for a rebuildable Pontiac engine for a future build on the GTO.

I bought all the left over parts from my old hydroplane buddies stash after selling the Donovan for him. He made me a decent deal on what ended up being a fixable pair of Brodix BB2 heads with nice parts and a decent intake. There’s one complete set of comp roller lifters and a cam I need to take to delta that are usable also. Everything else is junk with a few good rods and a good piston or two.

What size engine do you want for the GTO?
I know where a lot of Pontiac motors are.

My friend used to race Pontiac engines in his roadster many years ago and never sells anything. He’s got three engines that all need basic rebuilds. I think he’s got 400, 421, and a 455 to choose from.
Honestly I’d love to do something with the car this winter, but I won’t afford it. I need to get back on the ‘66 as it’s too close to running to keep putting off and the race car will consume all my cash this spring. I just want to get an engine with good parts in hand and up to Darryl’s for a possible freshen next winter.

I've seen the pics!  The big question will be whether or not Parker re-uses the timing chain that came off it!wink  Its gotta have at least a couple more seasons on it!!!

I take it the chain was very loose? Good thing you tore it down. H

It was grossly overdue for a rebuild. I knew that, and got lucky everything held together. The head gasket let go between 4&6 last run of the year.
