There's a Twister coming!

Figured I may as well start a thread for this thing even though it's going to be a long and slow build (Although still should be done before George's Camaro).  Got everything ready today to bring it home only to find out the U-Haul trailer wouldn't work.  So picking it up Wednesday night thanks to an old Schwaby buddy of mine.  Have almost all of the parts home for it now.  There's a LOT to go through and organize and figure out what I'm going to unload and what I'm going to keep.  So far, the biggest parts:

Two virgin 440's, one short block, one bare block with complete rotating assembly seperate including factory forged cranks and one set of stripped heads.

727 trans with rebuild kit and shift kit brand new in boxes.

Edelbrock Torker intake brand new in box.

Narrowed D60 with brand new 5.52 gears, Strange axles, spool, and bearings/seals with matched offset slotted mag wheels and 33/14.50-15 tires (Junk but hold air)

Front has started to be converted to coilover suspension, matching slotted mag skinnies with rollers.

Mustang II manual rack and pinion steering.

All glass minus the front windshield.

A ton of tin pieces that were previously installed.  Not so nicely removed, but will make for good stencils for new tin work to be done.  Tubs are usable, big plus!

Build-a-header kit, brand new.  Slight surface rust from sitting but will clean up nicely.

Full tube chassis with over-built cage.  May end up having to modify part of it, but no big deal.

Demon front clip along with factory Duster front clip.  Demon clip in much better condition and cooler looking anyway.

I'm sure there's a ton more stuff.  You can see how much is in my garage now and that's not all of it as there's still a hood, back windshield, and some other bigger parts I haven't brought home yet.  Initial plans are a mild 440, rebuilt/kitted 727 with a small stall, and get the suspension sorted out so I can get a feel for the car.  Not much will be happening any time soon as funds are short for anything additional for car related stuff.  Will be doing as much as I can with what I've already got which should be quite a bit just figuring out where everything goes.  I'm stoked though and am looking forward to what's ahead!

Got a chance to get out to the garage today and play around a bit.  Got the passenger side quarter window, trim, and weatherstrip installed.  Also managed to get the front fenders hung and the original Duster clip loosely installed so I can start taking some measurements to fab up a core support.  Also figured out the bracket setup for the master cylinder.  It's a snug fit, but should work great.  Just need to figure out the part number for that particular master cylinder or rebuild this one.  After looking more at the original K-member and how it was modified to make the Mustang II rack and pinion steering work, I will 100% be going to an aftermarket K-member eventually.  It's scary looking as you can see from the pics.  I don't know if they did that just for test fitting and were going to go with something different later or what.

Threw the hood on since I had the front clip somewhat installed just to give myself some motivation.  This thing is going to be badass with the Demon grill and once I figure out what I want to do with the hood.  You can see in the pic that whoever hacked up the nice 4" cowl fiberglass hood to try and do a forward intake did a horrible job.  I don't know if I want to box in the rear and fix the front, or put it back to a regular cowl hood.

Glad to see you've got a garage and are taking on such a big project. Should be cool when done.

If there's anybody running a cross member that looks like that anywhere but in and out of the garage, they've got it coming lol The pedal I'm not so worried about. It's welded but still solid as a rock. Worst case I'll just find another one. Pretty sure they're a factory Mopar assembly. Just been modified a bit.

That should fix it. Don't know why it cut off the item part. This is the front end I plan on running once I start putting some time and money into the car. I'd get it sooner if somebody were so inclined to make a charitable donation though! lol

No takers for a donation to Chad's Race Car fund? Darn!

Operation get shit off the floor and organized commenced today. Got a few new shelves put up. Still have a couple more to put up once I make some room to get to the walls to do it. Going to start building the 727 once I get an open stand to put it on since I've already got everything to do it. Rebuild kit plus a programming kit. I figure it'll give me something to do between working on her Nova and organizing more stuff. The Duster is going to be leaving the garage for a little while so I can get the rear suspension done on her Nova. Tired of having to wait for good weather to work on anything and the Duster isn't going to be getting any serious work for a long time so going to wrap it up in a big ass tarp and park it some where out of the way for now.

New 1" drop coil springs up front, new 2" drop leafs in the rear, new KYB shocks front and rear, new beefy sway bars front and rear, all new hardware front and rear. Just finished up the front along with a disc brake conversion. All that's left is the rear and then getting the 408 put together.
