The stripes are just a decal.

True. I had them painted on my 68 elk... We started with the dimensions of the sticker then my painter suggested making the bottom stripe wider- then he buried in the clear coat so you couldn't feel the edge. I liked it, but wasn't "correct" by any means.

I will wind up using the decal on my current 68 though.. I'll be interested to see how yours look when they are done.
Apparently they were only available in black, white or Red, so i'll have to have mine custom made in gold when its time.

I'm afraid the progress will slow immensely as soon as I get it back.

Finally got my tach back today.  Got all my gauges recalibrated and restored. Everything works now.

Stopped by and checked on the car today.  Lots of sanding and polishing this week.  Its coming along nicely.  He should have the lower part painted black by next weekend.

He's a relative of my wife. He just does this as a hobby. I think this is only the 4th or 5th car that he has done. He is giving me a good deal for sure. It's not going to be a show car paint job. It's not perfect, but I am really happy with his work. I want this car to be a driver. I asked him about doing another car for somebody and he said he would only do cars for family members.

I'll never do it again.

But it looks like He is doing a great job.

I haven't done an update in a while.  Was out of town for a couple weeks.  I'm still trying to get caught back up at work.  I'm hoping to have all the frame back together today.  Maybe  drop the body back on the frame by tonight If all goes well.  Switching to disc brakes has been a nightmare.  I still haven't got the rear calipers to center over the new axles.  Right stuff tech line seems to operate on a 2 day turn around for tech questions.

I got a set of cheap wheels off craigslist.  The rear wheels were super wide.  I tested them on my other 68,  they fit but barely.  I figured they would be fine just to roll it around until I figure out what size I really want.  I put them on this car last night and they don't clear the calipers.  I'm starting to wish I would have just left the back drums now.  I think we will just take off the rear calipers for now until I can figure out what's wrong with the brakes.
