Fixed photos. Applogies for shitty site software.
Some folks have issues with the photos being turned, others do not. I think its a setting in your phone that automatically makes the photo right side up thats probably disabled. The phone displays it right side up, but it actually took it sideways and stored it sideways...

Thats just my guess though.

Gotta say i'm very impressed how well the car cleaned up! Love the slot mags!

I realize its probably the last thing on your mind- but If you ever think about taking that steering wheel off, let me know- I want to restore one of those deluxe ones for mine.
I have a brand new grant 3 spoke soft grip with the correct looking brushed 3 color horn button that I'd would trade if you were interested!

Pm'd Ben.
Side note, if this is a good spot for it. Anyone got a stock ish dual exhaust and small block headers for a 68 chevelle they want to sell cheap? The headers I got with the 307 were supposed to be out of a 69 but I don't see how as to make them fit, the crossmember needs to come out. Look more like truck headers to me. I'd be willing to trade (or part trade). Going to be looking for a small 4 barrel carb to put on too for a little more interim power. Need to check what manifolds I have but I think I've got a couple late 70's stock spreadbore 4 bbl ones.

No worries about the placement, but you might get better visibility in the classifieds section with titles for people scanning...

here are a couple pics of the wheel & button. I don't have the hub kit, but those are cheap, about $15.

Motor and trans in. IT RUNS!!!!!! Blew about 10 pounds of mouse nest out of the single exhaust.
But..... need to hook up trans linkage and more importantly, the internal trans cooler in the radiator split so trans fluid is mixing with the coolant. So now I've got to find a new or used radiator so I can keep going forward with getting it on the road.

Hope the video works. First start up. Had cranked about 10 seconds before this.

I'm actually starting to think what I thought was trans fluid in the coolant is just 12 years accumulated rust/scale/sediment. I drained the radiator and it just looks like rusty coolant. Trans dipstick looks fine. Probably give it a good flush through heater, block and radiator and try again. Otherwise if it is a split trans cooler line, I'll just get an external trans cooler and plug the ports on the rad.
Going out of town for the wife's bday, so anymore work will have to wait until Monday. Dang.

good stuff!

Generally I'm hard-core BBC guy BUT I do have a sweet spot for the much trash-talked 307. Remove the bad parts 2-bbl, the intake, the heads, install the 305HO heads (better flow that the stockers and very small chambers to bring your CR up), small cam 216/.450/108 approx. spec with a Q-Jet......change you from 200-210 horse to 300 damn quick, and you'll still have a nice driver.

I am looking for some May (G- date code) 307/327 heads

Ketbo, I will pop the valve covers off my 307 tomorrow and let you know the casting info in case they are what you're looking for.

Got a couple hours on it tonight. Brakes all done I just need to have help to bleed them. Maybe I can convince my wife to sit in it....

Pulled the trans pan so I can change the shift shaft. A previous owner of this powerglide cut the linkage off and welded a piece of rod on for a shifter. Just need to swap it for the correct one out of the old trans.

I also decided I don't think I blew an internal trans cooler line. I drained the rad Friday and let the coolant sit. Swished it around tonight and just looked rusty/sediment. So I'm going to flush it out and try again.

With any luck, I may be able to drive it tomorrow afternoon.

Drove it about a mile two different times today. Timing was way advanced so fixed that then it was one tire burnout city! Brakes need attention as I can feel one pulsing. Guessing its the same one clunking as it hits the backing plate. Need to sort out electrical as nothing works but I'm guessing that's rusty contacts, bulbs and fuses.

But it's a good start!

Tried to get my wife to video a burnout to post but she did not approve of the 10 or so black marks in front of the house and didn't want to add to them.
