Cam suggestions for goodwrench 305
Permalink

My neighbor (not Eric, different neighbor) picked up that goodwrench 305 from Lavelle-

Planning to put it in his in his newly acquired 49 ford with a TH350 behind it. Doesn't need to be a screamer, just a cruiser- but should have a little bit of rumpity rump to it.

Plan is to pull it apart, check it and then put back together and slip in a new cam.

What would a decent cam upgrade choice be... Figure low compression 8.5:1, stock heads, etc etc.

Was thinking a Comp XE 262 and advance it a couple degrees ... but not sure if there might be better choices.

thanks for any suggestions

My 79 Malibu 350 with vortec heads has the XE262H in it and it has a little lope with a good broad powerband

Block is from 85 so I don't think so. Not sure when they started doing that. He hasn't pulled it apart yet. Slacker.

I doubt it is a roller motor.
I was told it's a 190/210 hp Goodwrench 305 from Jegs.

Should have flat/slight dish pistons and small valve 58cc heads ( 8.5-9-1 )

Keep the duration under 225 @.050 and lift under .480-.500 ( spring/retainer/guide clearances )
