After looking at my rule book and also doing some searching I confirmed why I didn't install one years ago.  No mention or requirement per NHRA for a MANUAL TRANSMISSION car having a neutral safety switch, in any class...ever.  Some people report their local track requiring it with added track language rules for a car ORIGINALLY EQUIPPED with one, like Mark's '69 which was the first year for one in a Chevelle. BEN'S CAR IS EXEMPT FROM THAT RULE AS IS MINE.  I am not going to add one either...but I may/most likely add a "Clutch Tamer" device.

Too many people are used to all the rules for automatics and want to apply them to stick cars in my opinion.  I did read the rulebook and have abided by them.

You may be absolutely right, but if you argue with the tech inspector have the rule book with you and ask him to show you exactly where that rule is.  I've been asked about the switch numerous times at tech and I've always passed when I told then it was a stick car.  it got dicey once at Pueblo and the inspector let me race after a little conversation.  I put one in to stop any future arguments since I dont carry a rule book with me and arguments with tech inspectors usually never end well.

I have always taken the rule book with me to the track.  I also have no problem arguing about rules, I do it at work with city and county inspectors who don't even know the correct application and implementation or interpretation of their own codes.  In my experience persistence and knowledge is worth the time and effort.  You may piss them off and they call their boss but it's business.
