Chevy II engine swap.

Picked up a 292 L6 from Mike P. awhile back for a friends wife's 65'Nova 4dr, and am finally getting around to swapping out the old one.

Did a complete reseal and ground the valves while I was at it, before the install.

Should be quite the difference from the factory single barrel 250 cid gutless wonder.

Set right in and only had to alter right side motor mount after installing a Nova oil pump and pan. ( front sump )

Working on headers now.

Took the old bent up truck header, and am in the process of chopping it up into a pair of shorty's.

Funny thing to the pink.

Misty was teasing us while we were working on the Nova one day, about how we were building it like a guy's car not a girls.

She made a teasing comment about some pink accents, thinking I would balk and be against it.

So I gave her a pink engine teasingly in return, and she loved it, so it's been pink engines ever since

Real close to starting.
Other than a couple of wire and the PCV.
I only need to mount the electric fuel pump and finish up the fuel line. ( motor mount is different on a 292 and covers fuel pump boss.)

What a fun project!
I love inline-6 builds. Every one of my jeeps except for one has been an inline 6. With the split header and a four-barrel they sound like a small block.

I've got a 292 in my 1968 C-10 stepside. Of course the truck is completely torn-down now, but I hope to do some work on it in the near future. I started building up the 292 a while back and got the propane pistons for it. The dish is half the depth of the gas pistons, and instead of 8.0:1 compression it bumps it up to over 9:1. I've got dual headers and the single quad intake from Clifford. Really want to get my head modified with the lump-port modification. Sissel makes a 12-port head for these too, but pretty expensive!

I've always liked the odd and different.
Bob thought I was crazy in the beginning, about putting in the 292.
Bob' s going a truck motor? It won't fit? Why? Your just crazy.
He still thinks I'm crazy, but good crazy now after driving the results yesterday. (Had a ace in the hole, a buddy did one to a 67" about 30 years ago so I knew it would fit.)
It wasn't to bad converting it over.
Basically only had to alter the right motor mount, make the throttle linkage assembly, and chop up the truck header into something that fit.
For now it is a stock long block with the intake, 4bbl, and home built header.
I'll be able talk him into putting at least a cam and lump ports into it at some point.
It's just cruiser for his old lady, that before couldn't get it's self out of a wet paper bag (and needed more umph as Misty put it).
Personally I'd like to take the 2 engines he has and build up a high compression low deck 292, with a big cam and ported lump port head and see what happens.

I am tuned into this one. I have many wish cars but I wanted a 62 nova with a built straight 6 maybe even a turbo 6. Would be fun

The turbo 6 idea is cool. I have often thought a 65ish C10 or C20 with a turbo 6, T5 would be a cool parts-getter / open trailer tow rig.

nice to see someone else interested in building up old straight 6s. wouldn't take much to add a tbi system and a turbo...... even just tbi no cold starting problems, plus an obd2 port on a classic, talk about different.

Misty's Nova is alive.
The 292 runs really good, what a difference compared to the old engine.
Climbs hills nicely without effort now.
Couple of post test drive pic's and Bob homemade interior.
( the GTO in the back ground is Bob's)
